Mineral County Federal Release Paths
The federal and immigration entry in Mineral County’s facility map combines systems, not one local building. No federal Bureau of Prisons institution or official ICE detention center was identified within the county. A person can leave the Mineral County Detention Center in USMS or ICE custody, serve a federal sentence in a BOP institution elsewhere, or later leave federal or immigration custody. Those are separate events.
Start with the county ledger when the sequence began at the Sheriff’s jail. Request the release date, disposition, and receiving agency. “Released to USMS” or “released to ICE” means county custody ended while another sovereign’s custody continued. Do not describe the person as free based on the county exit alone. BOP, ICE, USMS, and the federal court each maintain different parts of the timeline.
Confirm a Mineral County BOP Release
The BOP Inmate Locator is the official public search for a person who served a federal prison sentence. It covers federal inmates incarcerated from 1982 to the present. Search by BOP register number for the strongest match, or use name and identity details. A former prisoner result may show “Released” with a date. “Not in BOP custody” requires context because the person may be outside BOP or in another sovereign’s custody.
This official locator image represents the BOP search channel. It does not depict a Mineral County jail roster and cannot confirm a county release unless records link the two custody episodes.
- Search by federal register number when available, or enter the full name and identity fields.
- Check that the person and federal record match before reading the status.
- Record the exact release wording and displayed federal release date.
- Compare the result with the federal judgment and any supervision record.
- Request BOP or archived documentation if the public result is too old or unclear.
BOP directs searches for federal incarceration before 1982 to the National Archives. Sentence data can be revised, and a displayed federal date says nothing by itself about an earlier Mineral County booking. The Mineral County released inmates search path covers how to obtain the local ledger entry that connects the episodes.
Note: A BOP release date proves departure from BOP custody, not release from every state, county, tribal, or immigration hold.
Mineral County ICE Release Window
The ICE Online Detainee Locator System is relevant only when records indicate immigration custody. ICE states that it includes people currently detained and people released from ICE custody within the last 60 days. Search with an exact nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or use exact biographical information. An eight-digit A-number is padded with a leading zero. Minors under 18 are not included.
A positive result within that window can document a recent ICE custody or release event. A no-match after 60 days cannot disprove past ICE custody. Some transfers also take time to appear. Contact Enforcement and Removal Operations when a careful search fails and the Mineral County ledger names ICE as the receiving agency.
| ICE result | What it supports | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Currently detained match | ICE reports present immigration custody | Does not supply the earlier county release time |
| Recently released match | ICE reports release within its 60-day window | Does not describe the entire county or court history |
| No match | No locator result from that search | Not proof that ICE never held the person |
ICE custody and a county detainer are not interchangeable terms. A detainer or transfer disposition signals another step in the custody chain. Preserve the Sheriff entry and then obtain ICE confirmation before using the word released without qualification.
Mineral County USMS Transfers
The U.S. Marshals Service holds many federal defendants from court-ordered custody through acquittal or release, or until conviction and delivery to BOP. It does not provide a general public real-time detainee locator comparable to a county roster. If the Mineral County record says “released to USMS,” the accurate description is transfer to federal custody.
Use the federal court docket to find detention, release, judgment, or commitment orders. The USMS District of Nevada page supplies the official district contact route. USMS policy restricts public release of personal history, prisoner photographs, and arrival or departure times, so a focused request may receive limited material.
A USMS Freedom of Information Act request can seek custody or tracking records. Describe the person, court case, approximate dates, Mineral County transfer, and specific records sought. The federal court order is often the clearest public legal confirmation, while the agency record addresses custody administration.
Note: USMS has no public released-prisoner locator, so the court docket and focused agency request carry more of the verification work.
Federal Release Records and Contacts
There is no single Mineral County federal release desk because BOP, ICE, USMS, the federal court, and the county Sheriff hold separate records. Start with the custodian named by the last confirmed event. BOP handles federal prison history. ICE handles immigration detention. USMS handles many pretrial federal custody movements. The Sheriff handles the county jail departure record.

For a Mineral County record under NRS Chapter 239, request the booking sheet, release ledger entry, disposition, and receiving agency. Under NRS 239.0107, the county has a five-business-day response framework to provide access, explain lack of custody or unavailability, cite a denial, or state when access is expected. That state-law process applies to the county record, not to federal FOIA timing.
Mineral County Federal Custody Evidence
Each source proves only the event within its authority. Keeping the sources separate prevents a federal prison release from being mistaken for a county-jail release or an immigration transfer from being described as freedom. Match names, agency numbers, dates, and court cases across the chain.
| Source | Best evidence | Not established |
|---|---|---|
| Mineral County Sheriff ledger | County jail departure time and receiving agency | Later federal or ICE release |
| BOP Locator | Federal prison status and historic release date | County or ICE custody status |
| ICE Locator | Current detention or release within 60 days | Older ICE history after the window |
| Federal court docket | Legal order, case status, judgment, or commitment | Exact agency processing time |
| USMS response | Available custody or transfer records | A public real-time locator result |
A court order authorizing release may precede the physical custody transaction. Likewise, a BOP result can show a past federal release while a later state or immigration episode exists. Use the most recent confirmed custodian rather than assuming the last online page tells the full story.
Identifiers also belong to their own systems. A Mineral County booking number identifies the local jail episode. A BOP register number points to the federal prison record, while an A-number supports an immigration locator search. A federal case number ties detention and sentencing orders to the court docket. Preserve each identifier with its source instead of treating them as substitutes. This makes it possible to show that the same person moved from county custody to USMS, entered BOP after judgment, and later received a federal release date without merging those events into one release.
Mineral County Sovereigns and Release
Walker River Tribal Police is a separate agency in Schurz within Mineral County geography. A local arrest can involve tribal, county, state, or federal authority, and the arresting agency may differ from the physical holding facility. Identify the sovereign, court, jail, and receiving agency before choosing a federal locator.
A tribal-police event does not automatically belong in BOP or ICE. It may route through a tribal court, the Mineral County jail, another contract facility, or a federal process depending on the actual case. Ask where the person was lodged and to whom the person was released or transferred. This Section 19 custody-angle check is especially important where one generic county-name search can mix several systems.
- Detainer
- A request or notice affecting custody transfer or release; it does not itself prove community release.
- Transfer
- Movement from one custodian to another while custody continues.
- Federal release
- Departure from the named federal custodian, subject to any supervision or other hold.
- A-number
- The immigration identifier used with country of birth in an ICE locator search.
No Federal Release Result
No online result is not a final answer. Recheck spelling, identity details, federal register number, A-number format, country of birth, and the date window. Determine whether the person was a USMS detainee who never entered BOP, an ICE subject outside the 60-day recently released period, or someone held by a county, tribal, or state agency instead.
Then return to primary records. Obtain the Mineral County transfer disposition, search the federal court case, contact the receiving agency, and make a focused records request. A complete chain should state where county custody ended, which agency next held the person, and what record documents that agency’s eventual release.
